Want to get involved?
Find out about becoming a Samaritan volunteer
There are various volunteer roles which have different amounts of commitment. If you want to get involved but you don’t have a huge amount of time to spare, come along to an information evening to talk about what you can do to help.
Our volunteers can undertake a number of roles. Our listening volunteers provide emotional support on the telephone, or by e-mail / text, or face-to-face. Our listening volunteers also provide support outside of our branch, in Dorchester prison, or in local schools, for example.
All of the people that work at Samaritans Bournemouth & District branch are volunteers, including all of the fundraisers, administrative, maintenance, and management staff. We need volunteers in all of these roles. We also need volunteers in our Charity Shop.
We’re sure you’ll get a huge amount from the experience of being a Samaritan volunteer but it’s up to you. By talking to the volunteers themselves you can make a decision about whether the choice is right for you.
