Bournemouth Samaritans aims for the next 3 years

Besides our core activity of providing 24/7 emotional support, we hope to continue with:

  • Prison Outreach
  • Visits to schools
  • Visits to Care Homes
  • Talks to Sedman Unit
  • Attendance at Domestic Violence Forum
  • Attendance at Crown Prosecution Service Advisory Panel
  • Attendance at local events
  • New Forest Show
  • Ringwood Carnival
  • Ferndown Festival
  • Bournemouth Air Show

And to:

  • Continue to deliver and improve on our 24/7 emotional support services
  • Improve the awareness and understanding of Samaritans and the service we provide amongst our priority groups
    • People in suicidal crisis
    • People who self harm
    • People who are supporting others in crisis
    • People who are affected by the suicide of another
  • Improve access to our services for people with Mental Health Problems
  • Continue to provide and develop peer-supported schemes in prisons
  • Increase our talks to schools
  • Increase our community links
  • Continue to pilot the new SMS service for the national organisation
  • Become the acknowledged experts in the community on the provision of emotional support to people in suicidal crisis
